Questions

Are password managers safe?

Good ones use end-to-end encryption, so the company cannot read your vault. The bigger risk is reusing passwords without one. Choose a well-audited manager and protect it with a strong master password and two-step login.

What happens if the password manager is breached?

With zero-knowledge encryption, attackers get only encrypted data. That is why the strength of your master password matters, as the 2022 LastPass breach showed.

Are browser password managers good enough?

They are much better than reusing passwords, but dedicated managers offer stronger sharing, cross-platform support and security features.

What is a passkey?

A passkey replaces a password with a cryptographic key stored on your device, unlocked by your fingerprint, face or PIN. It cannot be phished. Most managers on this page support them.
